Symbolism

Northeastern University’s motto is Lux Veritas Virtus, which is Latin for light, truth, courage. Members of the Lux. Veritas. Virtus. Society exemplify this motto in that they brighten the university experience,  follow an academic journey toward truth, and enter the world with the courage to make a difference.

Eligibility

The Lux. Veritas. Virtus. Society of Distinction is open only to graduate students in their final year of study (12 months prior to expected graduation ceremony, or less). Students may be from any of Northeastern’s global campuses.

  • Record of service, whether within the university or another community
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Entrepreneurial or innovative spirit
  • Academic record
  • Commitment and ability to positively represent the values of Northeastern

Nomination Process

All members of the Northeastern community—deans, faculty, staff, advisors, coaches, employers, alumni, and fellow students—may nominate students. The official nomination form must be completed for consideration, along with at least two but no more than three letters of support detailing the student’s accomplishments.
